As usual, a lot is happening here this month!  Our Winter Reading programs kick off on January 15 (keep an eye out for updates).  It’s a great way to kick off our 2015 Read Harder Challenge as well (flyers at Circulation and Reference).

Crochet for Beginners is every Sunday at 1:30 PM, please come to all four sessions and you must provide your own materials.

Beginner Yoga and Adult Chess are Monday nights

Franklin Park has a Crafting Circle every Wednesday, but times vary so check ahead.

Jewelry: Old is New is being held January 12 and 26 at 6:45 pm.  You can only sign up for one class!

January 23 we will be showing Get On Upa film about James Brown.  Tate Taylor directs 42’s Chadwick Boseman as James Brown in Get on Up. Based on the incredible life story of the Godfather of Soul, the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20th century. Boseman is joined in the drama by Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, Jill Scott and Dan Aykroyd.  138 minutes; Rated PG-13 (for sexual content, drug use, some strong language, and violent situations)

Communication-training

Think of the successful leaders you know.  They probably have one trait in common – the ability to communicate effectively.

This FREE six-week Youth Leadership Program, sponsored and conducted by members of the Conackamack Toastmasters, will be held Tuesday evenings from September 30th through November 4that the Main Library.  Young Adults ages, 13 – 18 are eligible to participate.

This program provides an emphasis on specialized speaking and leadership skills.  (For more information please visit the YA Calendar.)  Space is limited, and registration is required.  All interested young adults must contact the program coordinator Sheila Mason at Sheila.mason1@gmail.com to register for the program.

A man is chosen by his world’s creator to undertake a momentous mission before an apocalyptic flood cleanses the world. Russell Crowe stars as Noah in the film inspired by the epic story of courage, sacrifice and hope. Directed by visionary filmmaker Darren Aronofsky.

137 minutes; Rated PG-13 for violence, disturbing images, and brief suggestive content. This is an adult program, but teens are welcome to attend.

Come join us for the Family Film Cafe showing of The LEGO Movie on Tuesday, July 22 at 7-8:45 PM.

Bring your own picnic supper or just a dessert to snack on as you enjoy this film on our large screen.
Please register so that we can set up a table for your group.  A parent must be with child at all times during the film.
If you print your tickets, you may bring them directly to the program, which will be held in the Community Room.
We know that’s a bit far away and that you just can’t get enough LEGOs however, so enjoy these great dioramas of Libraries and Bookstores!   What can you come up with? Share your LEGO designs with us!
