We regret to say that Grounds for Sculputre has discontinued their museum pass program. Passes for Grounds for Sculpture are no longer available

The Garden State Discovery Museum

Admits 6 people and will entitle you to a 15% discount in their DiscoverMore Toy Store.

The Guggenheim Museum

Admits 4 adults. Children under 12 are free. Bypass ticket lines and receive a 10% discount at the Guggenheim Store and Cafe.

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

Please note that you must show your Franklin Township Public Library card along with the pass to gain admittance to the Intrepid museum.

Admits 6 people. Admission to the Enterprise space shuttle is included.

The Morris Museum

This pass admits 2 adults and 3 children.

The Museum of the American Revolution

Admits up to 2 adults and 4 youth (ages 6-17). Children 5 and under are free. Provides a 10% discount at Cross Keys Cafe and the Museum Gift Shop.

The Museum of Modern Art

Admits 5 adults. Children 16 and under are free. 10% discount at the on-site MoMA store.

Who can reserve a museum pass?
Franklin Township cardholders over 18 years of age in good standing may borrow museum passes. Online temporary registrations and reciprocal borrowers do not qualify.
How do I reserve a museum pass?
  1. View museum availability either by date or museum.
  2. Once a museum and date have been chosen enter your library card number.
  3. Your reservation is complete!
Once you have completed your reservation passes that you may print from home (marked with ) can be sent via email or printed immediately.
Is there a charge to borrow a museum pass?
There is no charge to borrow a museum pass.
How many passes can I reserve?
One museum pass may be reserved per day, per card. Each museum may be reserved one time per month, and up to five different passes may be reserved in a calendar month.
How far in advance can I reserve a pass?
Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance.
How many people are admitted with each pass?
The membership conditions of each museum vary and are indicated in the description for each pass.
How and when do I pick up the pass?
Passes may be picked up at the Reference Desk beginning at 3 pm the day prior to your visit and must be returned by 11 am the day after.
On Saturdays in July and August, when the library closes at 2 PM, passes may be picked up after 12 PM.
Museums marked by the icon may be received via email and printed from home. You do not need to visit the library to pick up these passes.
Do I need my library card to pick up the pass?
Yes, you will need to present the library card that you used when reserving the pass to pick it up.
What happens if I do not pick up my reserved pass?
If you do not pick up your pass by the reserved date, it will constitute a "No Show."" If the reservation is canceled the day before or the day of the reserved date, it will also be considered a “No Show.” Because demand for passes is high, two “no shows” in a 60 day period may result in a 2 month block on museum pass reservations
How do I cancel my reservation?
Reservations can be canceled up to two days before the "Day of Use." You can cancel online or by calling 732-873-8700 option 3. If the reservation is canceled the day before or the day of the "Day of Use" it will be considered a "No Show."" Because demand for passes is extremely high, two "no shows" in a 60 day period may result in a 2 month block on museum pass reservations.
Can I renew my pass?
Checked out passes cannot be renewed or extended.
How do I return a museum pass?
  • Passes can be returned to the the DeMott Lane, Somerset location of the FTPL at any Library Service Desk  or in the Media Drop.
  • Passes must be returned by 11 am after the Day of Use (i.e. if the "Day of Use" is Friday, return the pass by Saturday at 11 a.m.)  If the library is closed for the day, your pass will be due by 11 am the next day the library is open.
  • Passes can be returned when the library is closed via the Media Drop at the main library on DeMott Lane. 
  • If the library is closed for the day on the pass's due date, the pass will be due by 11 am the next day the library is open.
  • Exception: The Garden State Discovery Museum, Grounds for Sculpture, and Intrepid will accept a digital copy from your device. If you have a reservation for these museums, you can display it on your device by selecting email pass or by viewing your reservation. Or you can print the pass at home or have the library print it for you. The paper pass does not need to be returned.
  • Passes need to be returned on time so others may use them. Thank you for your consideration of others who are waiting to use the pass.
What is the fee if I return the pass late?
$25 per day.
What is the replacement fee if I lose a pass?
Replacement cost for a museum pass is $75.
Which museums have digital/printable passes, and how does that work?
Museums offering a digital/printable pass display  next to their names. The following institutions are available as digital/printable passes:

  • Garden State Discovery Museum
  • Grounds for Sculpture
  • Intrepid

When you make a reservation for these institutions, you can choose to Print Pass or Email Pass to yourself. You do not need to pick up or return digital/printable passes. You can display the pass on your phone when you visit, or print out a copy. We are happy to print out the pass for you if needed.
