Museum Pass Loan Policies

The Franklin Township Public Library currently offers a limited number of passes to several different museums for checkout from the DeMott Lane location. Depending on interest and available funding, additional museums may be added in the future.

Franklin Township residents, employees of Franklin Township, and Franklin Township Board of Education employees who are 18 years of age or older with a current library card may check out one pass per household. Library card holders must be in good standing; blocked or expired cards are not acceptable. Reciprocal borrowers are not eligible to borrow museum passes.
Museum passes may be checked out for 4 days. Passes may not be renewed.
No more than one museum pass at a time may be checked out per household. Households are permitted one usage per museum pass type every 30 days. Exceptions to this limit will not be available due to weather conditions, limited exhibit accessibility or other unforeseen circumstances. Please plan accordingly.
Museum passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Adult Reference Desk, and cannot be reserved in advance. In addition to your library card, eligible patrons must also present a valid photo ID (New Jersey driver license or non-driver identification card). Information on the photo ID must match library records. All patrons must sign the Museum Pass Borrower Agreement at the time of checkout.

Garden State Discovery Museum

The Garden State Discovery Museum pass provides admission for up to six people per visit. Children under 12 months of age are not charged admission. Please see the GSDM website for further museum rules and restrictions at www.discoverymuseum.com.

Grounds for Sculpture

The Grounds for Sculpture museum pass provides admission for up to four people per visit. Children under the age of five are not charged admission to the museum. This pass does not provide discounts to GFS restaurants or shops. Please see the GFS website for further museum rules, regulations, and exhibit accessibility at www.groundsforsculpture.com.

Intrepid Musuem

The Intrepid Museum pass provides admission for up to six people to the Intrepid Museum, Space Shuttle Pavilion, and the submarine Growler, with express line access. A FTPL library card must be presented along with the pass to gain admission. Children under three are free. Please note: Pass does NOT provide access to member events, programs, or simulators. Morris Musuem

The Morris Museum pass admits two adults and three children. Please visit www.morrismuseum.org for more information. The Morris Museum pass may also provide admission to over 842 North American Reciprocal Museum member institutions. Please visit https://narmassociation.org/ for a member listing and contact information to confirm availability.

The museum passes are free to borrow (unless returned late or lost). The overdue fine for museum passes is $10.00 per day, up to the full replacement cost. If not returned within 14 days after the due date, the museum pass will be presumed lost and borrowers will be charged the full replacement cost. Replacement costs vary according to museum and are listed beloew:
  • Garden State Discovery Museum $405
  • Grounds for Sculpture $405
  • The Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Musuem $505
  • The Morris Museum $205
Museum passes must be returned in person to the DeMott Lane location Adult Reference Desk at least 15 minutes prior to closing and may not be returned in any book drop or alternate location. A $10.00 penalty fee will be issued to the borrower’s account if a pass is returned in the book drop. The original borrower’s presence is required to complete the appropriate paperwork when returning museum passes. The return process may take a few minutes. Please plan accordingly.
