It’s test season. Are you prepared?

Not only are we offering a free SAT review, we have tons of great study materials at the Library as well.  In addition to a wide selection of test prep books, educational DVDs, and tons of great vocabulary building books like the Kaplan SAT Score-Raising Classics series, we also have free online database resources that you can access from home with your library card.  For example, the Learning Express Library database has content and practice tests for several exams, such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, AP exams, PRAXIS, and other career exams.  It also contains knowledge building in areas like Social Studies, Science, Math and English.

There are flyers on the Reference Desk that you can take home that will show you how to access our online databases at the library or at home.  For some of the databases, you will need your library card to use as a username and create an account.  You can also click on this link to be brought to our list of databases, which is searchable by name or subject.

If your test is hosted on a computer, the Learning Express Library database offers online practice tests so you can practice the test the same way you’ll be taking it.

Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and check out some of our vocabulary builders like those below and test preparation materials!

The Kaplan SAT Score-Raising Classics series is a favorite because each book is laid out with the story on one page and all the SAT words defined on the opposing page… no flipping to the back!  They also use great stories like Poe’s horrifying short stories, Shelley’s mad scientist and his monster, Emily Bronte’s tragic romance, and Stevenson’s dangerous bipolar doctor to keep your attention and make learning a bit more interesting.
