Online Events at the Library for July 2020!

Starting in July, the library will begin hosting online events and programs that you can attend from home! The events listed below will be held via Zoom video call. For instructions on how to join a Zoom call, please click here.



Zumba Gold Chair & Chair Pilates — Wednesdays, 7/1 and 7/15 2:00-2:45pm via Zoom

Join instructor Laura Fechter for this fun combo exercise class in a chair! Come ready to sweat, and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong.
Zumba incorporates easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on range of motion and coordination. Zumba Gold Chair is perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves at a lower intensity. Chair Pilates is a mind-body class based on Pilates principles, using the chair for support and balance as well as various fun props, and incorporating breathing, stretching and strengthening for the whole body!

Gentle Beginner Yoga — Mondays, 7/6, 713, 7/20, 7/27 5:00-6:00pm via Zoom

New to yoga? Learn the foundations for establishing a safe and effective yoga practice.
Just some of the possible benefits of regular practice yoga include:- increased strength & muscle tone
– improved concentration, flexibility and digestion
– overall harmony of body & mindParticipants should consult their personal physician before beginning any exercise routine.

FTPL Virtual Book Club— Saturday, 7/11 12:00-1:00pm via Zoom

Join us for the first-ever meeting of the FTPL Virtual Book Club!  No library card is required to become a member.

Our first selection will be The 7 and 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton, which is available in both eBook and audiobook formats on Hoopla and CloudLibrary

Tai Chi for Beginners — Saturday, 7/11 and Tuesday 7/28 7:00-8:00pm via Zoom

Dr. Gang Huang, the founder of ‘Seeking Tai Chi,’ will be teaching Tai Chi classes for those who have little or no Tai Chi experience.

The focus will be on fundamentals that aim to improve strength, balance, coordination, and inner piece to lead to healthy living. It is not necessary to attend previous classes to benefit from a Tai Chi for Beginner session. This will be a perfect opportunity to get to experience authentic Tai Chi training which is also referred to as ‘Meditation in Motion.’

Chair Yoga — Thursday, 7/23 11:00am-12:00pm via Zoom

Open to all levels of practice and abilities, this gentle class focuses on an exploration of basic yoga poses and how to connect them through attention to breathing, alignment and mindfulness. Although much of the class will be done seated in a chair, the option to practice standing poses to improve balance, strength and flexibility are also included. Expect lots gentle stretching to bring movement to the joints and muscles.
This class is perfect for stress relief and overall well-being.
