Historic Sites in the Raritan & Millstone Valleys 5th Edition Now Available for FREE!

The library now has updated copies of an amazing resource on local history! The Historic Sites in the Raritan & Millstone Valleys: Fifth Edition, which has been lovingly compiled and updated by the Raritan-Millstone Heritage Alliance, is being distributed free of charge. This guidebook contains information on prominent historic sites located throughout the Rartian and Millstone Valleys in Central New Jersey, which are scattered throughout Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Somerset Counties. Notable entries include the historic buildings of Rutgers University, numerous historically preserved houses, monuments, and even a section on the historical holdings of a certain fantastic public library (hint: it’s us!). If you are interested in the history of Franklin, Somerset County, and Central New Jersey, you are not going to want to miss out on your copy of this guide book!

The Raritan-Millstone Heritage Alliance “consists of individuals, organizations, and historic sites in the Raritan and Millstone river valleys of Central New Jersey.” By distributing this book for free, the organization is more than fulfilling its mission, which is “to promote the preservation and understanding of the rich cultural heritage of significant historical, educational, and cultural sites located in the Raritan-Millstone region of our state” (Raritan-Millstone Heritage Alliance Webstie). In fact, they’ve even added a link to the free PDF version of the book! Click here for the free PDF.

You can find your free copy of the book behind the Reference Desk of the Main Branch on 485 DeMott Lane. If you have any questions about the book, please call the Reference Desk at 732-873-8700 ext.111 or leave a comment below.
