Makers Day 2018 – Activities, Crafts, and STEM Education!

We are thrilled to be hosting events for the 4th annual NJ Makers Day! Next Saturday (3/10), both branches of the Franklin Public Library will hold several activities and crafts designed celebrate Maker Culture. (Learn more about Maker Culture here.)

Activity Hours
Franklin Park: 10am – 12pm
Main Branch: 1:30pm – 4pm

To give you an idea of what makers in action look like at the library, here are a few things we did on Makers Day 2017:

GarageBand Workshop

GarageBand is a multi-track recording program developed by Apple. With it, you can record voice, instruments, manipulate MIDI files, and use a sizable library of recorded sounds, instruments, and presets that come with the program.

Handknitting

Jewelry Making

Ozobot

Ozobot is a little toy robot that blends the physical and digital worlds — and teaches kids programming. …Ozobot can identify lines, colors, and codes on both digital surfaces, such as an iPad, and physical surfaces, such as paper (source).”

Our staff will show you how to make your own custom soap!

These programs and activities will also be taking place at this year’s Makers Day.

We are also debuting three new mini-maker kits this year: Sphero Robots, Snap Circuits, and Straws and Connectors! Click on the pictures to learn more.
