New Jersey State Parks Lecture – Tuesday, 9/22 at 7pm.

Some of New Jersey’s most exciting history can be found in our more than two dozen State Parks. Old names such as Wawayanda and Hopatcong remind us of the Lenni Lenape, or ‘Original People.’ Historic battlefields recall New Jersey’s perilous years as ‘the Crossroads of the American Revolution.’ Abandoned forges still speak of our first great industry, and we can trace the beginnings of our transportation network in the paths of the Morris and the Delaware & Raritan Canals.

The slide show includes original photographs of many of New Jersey’s beautiful state parks, plus vintage maps and images of historic people, places, and events. Learn more about the wonderful parks accessible to you and be inspired to pay them a visit!

Kevin Woyce is an author, photographer, and lecturer, specializing in regional American history. His newest books include HUDSON RIVER LIGHTHOUSES and SANTA’S HOMETOWN: How New York City (and a few other places) Shaped the Christmas Season.

Registration is required. A link to the Zoom meeting will be included in your confirmation email (sent after you register) and a reminder email (sent one day prior to the program). If you do not receive the emails, please call the library. The ‘meeting room’ will open 10 minutes before the scheduled start of the program. Click here to register.
