ReferenceUSA for Job Seekers – Friday, July 24 10:30-11:30 AM via ZOOM

Join Bill Carlson from ReferenceUSA as he teaches you how to use ReferenceUSA’s powerful resources to search for employment opportunities. Gentle Beginner Yoga — Mondays, 5:00-6:00pm via Zoom

New to yoga? Learn the foundations for establishing a safe and effective yoga practice.
Just some of the possible benefits of regular practice yoga include:- increased strength & muscle tone
– improved concentration, flexibility and digestion
– overall harmony of body & mindParticipants should consult their personal physician before beginning any exercise routine.

SkillUp Workshop from the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board – Tuesday, August 4 2:00-3:00 PM AND Tuesday, August 18 10:00-11:00 AM Via GoToMeeting

SkillUp Greater Raritan, a program presented by the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board, is a free online learning portal for residents of Hunterdon and Somerset counties. SkillUp participants can access hundreds of different courses, ranging from Business Etiquette to Microsoft Office, and Human Resources to Customer Service, and much more. Participants will learn how to register for SkillUp, explore career pathways, browse the course catalog, and start the classes, all for free. Zumba Gold Chair & Chair Pilates – Wednesdays, 8/5 and 8/19 2:00-2:45pm via Zoom

Join instructor Laura Fechter for this fun combo exercise class in a chair! Come ready to sweat, and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong.
Zumba incorporates easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on range of motion and coordination. Zumba Gold Chair is perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves at a lower intensity. Chair Pilates is a mind-body class based on Pilates principles, using the chair for support and balance as well as various fun props, and incorporating breathing, stretching and strengthening for the whole body!

Tai Chi for Beginners – Saturday, 8/10 and Tuesday 8/29 7:00-8:00pm via Zoom

Dr. Gang Huang, the founder of ‘Seeking Tai Chi,’ will be teaching Tai Chi classes for those who have little or no Tai Chi experience.

The focus will be on fundamentals that aim to improve strength, balance, coordination, and inner piece to lead to healthy living. It is not necessary to attend previous classes to benefit from a Tai Chi for Beginner session. This will be a perfect opportunity to get to experience authentic Tai Chi training which is also referred to as ‘Meditation in Motion.’

FTPL Virtual Book Club – Saturday, 8/15 12:00-1:00pm via Zoom

Join us for a librarian-led discussion of Writers & Lovers by Lily King via Zoom video call! This title is available in both eBook and audiobook formats on Hoopla and CloudLibrary.

Virtual Performance: Raconteur Radio Presents The Hobbit – Thursday 8/20 7:00-8:30pm via Zoom

This program is a live talk back/Q&A with the actors and director of Raconteur Radio. A link to the actual performance will be sent out to registrants (and posted on the event page) prior to the talk back for you to watch at your leisure. The 55-minute production features theatrical lighting, period costumes, Golden Age radio equipment, sound effects and vintage commercials.

Registration is required. A link to the Zoom meeting will be emailed to participants at least one hour prior to the program. The meeting ‘room’ will open 10 minutes before the scheduled start of the program. Patrons will not be able to register themselves the day of a program once the link has been sent out. Chair Yoga – Thursday 7/23 and Thursday 8/27 11:00am-12:00pm via Zoom

Open to all levels of practice and abilities, this gentle class focuses on an exploration of basic yoga poses and how to connect them through attention to breathing, alignment and mindfulness. Although much of the class will be done seated in a chair, the option to practice standing poses to improve balance, strength and flexibility are also included. Expect lots gentle stretching to bring movement to the joints and muscles.
This class is perfect for stress relief and overall well-being.
