Special Events for May 2023

Parting Party – Saturday, 5/6 at 11am. DeMott Lane Branch.

Don’t put off completing an advanced directive because the process is overwhelming or it’s difficult to think about end of life decisions. By providing a relaxed atmosphere, this Parting Party will help make the process more approachable. Enjoy snacks and refreshments while learning about different types for advanced directives with End of Life Doula Alesia McFarlane. Please register here.



Bird Watching @ DeMott Lane – Thursday, 5/18 at 5pm. DeMott Lane Branch.

Celebrate Global Bird Day and the season of Spring by hearing a story and doing some bird watching at the library! No registration required.



Growing Herbs with a Green Thumb – Wednesday, 5/24 at 6pm. DeMott Lane Branch.

This lecture will cover everything you need to know about starting an herb garden (indoors or out)! From propagation to harvesting to incorporating them into your meals.

All are welcome to attend, but those who register will receive a small plant to take home. Please register here.



NEW Recurring Events



Conversational English as a Second Language (ESL) Class – Wednesdays at 3pm. DeMott Lane Branch.

A free, basic ESL conversation group for students who have a basic working knowledge of English and wish to gain more confidence speaking English. Please register here.



Movie Matinee – A Man Called Otto (2022) – Friday, 5/12 at 2pm. DeMott Lane Branch.

Based on Fredrik Backman’s best-selling novel A Man Called Ove. When a lively young family moves in next door, grumpy widower Otto Anderson meets his match in a quick-witted, pregnant woman named Marisol, leading to an unlikely friendship that turns his world upside down. Rated PG-13. TRT 2 hours, 6 minutes. No registration required.

All library movie screenings are shown with subtitles.
