Introducing our Media PC‘s newest scanner, the Epson FF-680W! With this device, photos can be quickly and easily scanned in batches. Each batch can hold up to thirty-six photos at one time, with the device scanning at a rate of one photo per second. Once scanned, photos can be saved in a variety of file formats. If you have a large backlog of photographs that are in need of preservation, the Epson FastFoto is for you!
What size photos can I scan?
The FF-680W is able to scan:
2.5 x 3.5 inches (wallet)
3 x 5, 4 x 6, 5 x 7, and 8 x 10 inches (standard photos)
Polaroid photos, square prints, and postcards (special formats)
A scanned photo as seen through the Epson software.
What else can I scan?
Paper documents in standard sizes can also be scanned in batches (letter, legal, A3, and A4).
Is there a cost to use the scanner?
No! As with our other Media PC scanners, there is no cost to use this device.
Can I ask for help using the scanner?
Yes! You can request assistance from one of our librarians when signing up to use the Media PC.

These can be found to your right as you walk in to the DeMott Lane Branch (in front of the circulation desk). The Franklin Township Public Library is thrilled to announce our new digital preservation studio, the Media PC! In this space, patrons can scan and record photos, cassette tape audio recordings, VHS tapes, and other physical media, converting them to easily transferable, high-quality digital copies. This service is available free of charge, and assistance is available (and recommended) upon request.

The library provides passes to a number of museums for free to Franklin library card holders! Each pass provides admission for at least two people, and some even provide additional discounts! You can reserve passes here. Take a look at the passes we offer:
AKC Museum of the Dog
The AKC Museum of the Dog preserves, interprets and celebrates the role of dogs in society and educates the public about the human-canine bond through its collection of art and exhibits that inspire positive engagement with dogs. Combining fine art with high-tech interpretive displays, the Museum of the Dog hopes to capture the hearts and minds of its visitors. This museum is located in New York City. This pass admits up to 2 adults and 2 children. Passholders will also receive $5 off additional admission tickets, 10% off in museum gift shop (onsite, day-of visit), and 10% off individual or family level membership.
Guggenheim Museum
The Guggenheim hosts a permanent collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, early Modern, and contemporary art. Special exhibitions are rotated throughout the year. There are also daily guided experiences about the iconic architecture of the building included with admission. This museum is located in New York City. This pass admits 5 adults and up to 5 children under age 18 into the museum. Bypass lines by presenting this pass to the Membership Desk in order to pick up expedited tickets. 10% discount at the Museum Store, Café, and restaurant.
Intrepid Museum
The Intrepid Museum’s dynamic exhibitions exemplify the intersection of history and innovation. Immersive fun, STEM and history are showcased through technological marvels such as Enterprise, the world’s first space shuttle, and Growler, the only nuclear-weapons-carrying submarine open to the public. The Museum’s also features dozens of military aircraft. This museum is located in New York City. This pass covers free general admission for 2 adults and 2 children to the museum. This pass is good only for admission during normal museum hours. Restrictions may apply. The Space Shuttle Pavilion IS INCLUDED.
Morris Museum
The Morris Museum has several permanent exhibits, with collections focusing on local wildlife, musical boxes, automata and history. These include a fossil exhibit, a natural science exhibit, minerals, textiles, a Native American collection, and a model train room. There is also the Dodge Room dedicated to Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge, a philanthropist and Morristown resident. Throughout the year, temporary and traveling exhibits can also be viewed. This pass admits 2 adults and 3 children.
Museum of the American Revolution
The Museum of the American Revolution is dedicated to telling the story of the American Revolution. Permanent and special exhibition galleries, theaters and large-scale tableaux engage people in the history and continuing relevance of the American Revolution. This museum is located in Philadelphia. Pass admits two (2) adults and four (4) youth (ages 6-17). Children 5 and under are free. Passholders also receive a 10% discount at Cross Keys Café and the Museum Shop. The card must be presented for the first available time slots on the same day and guests may not reserve future days.
Museum of Early Trades & Crafts
The Museum of Early Trades and Crafts works to tell the stories of the people who lived and worked in New Jersey from the colonial era through the age of industrialization. Its exhibits explore and interpret the history and culture of the past, helping visitors understand how it impacts our lives today. The museum boasts over 8,000 tools and artifacts used in New Jersey before 1860. In addition to this robust collection, the museum also features informative exhibits, including both permanent exhibits and bi-annual rotating exhibits in the Main Gallery. This pass provides free admission for 2 adults and all children under 18. It also provides a 10% discount at the store.
Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)
Considered one of the most influential museums in the world devoted to modern and contemporary art, MoMA’s collection spans the late 19th century to the present, and includes over 200,000 works of architecture and design, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, prints, illustrated and artist’s books, film, as well as electronic media. This museum is located in New York City. The benefits of this pass include free admission for the pass holder and up to four (4) guests, free tickets to MoMA film programs, plus discounts on select parking and dining.
Newark Museum of Art
The Newark Museum of Art is the state’s largest museum. It holds major collections of American art, decorative arts, contemporary art, and arts of Asia, Africa, the Americas, and the ancient world. In addition to its extensive art collections, the museum is dedicated to natural science. It includes the Dreyfuss Planetarium and the Victoria Hall of Science which highlights selections from the museum’s 70,000 specimen Natural Science Collection. The Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Memorial Garden houses numerous works of contemporary sculpture and is the setting for community programs, concerts and performances. Pass allows free admission for 2 adults and all children under 16. Show the pass for a 10% discount at the Museum gift shop.

It’s spooky season! This year, every week in October we’ll be highlighting two horror movies from our digital collections available via Kanopy, Hoopla, or both.
We have two foreign language vampire films this week with Ana Lily Amirpour’s debut film A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night and the original Swedish adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist’s 2007 novel Let the Right One In (we highly recommend you check out the novel as well).

The library now has passes for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden available from both the Demott Lane and Franklin Park locations! The pass does not include special festivals or member’s only events. Admission is free every Tuesday to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Museum pass is not needed on Tuesdays. What’s The Buzz? Backyard Beekeeping for Fun and Profit – Tuesday, 2/13 at 6pm. DeMott Lane Branch.
If you have ever thought about becoming a backyard beekeeper or if you are really curious about bees, then, this practical two-part presentation is for you. Michal Bendell, a local beekeeper, teaches everything you need to know about starting and maintaining your own beehive. You will learn about how to start beekeeping, in addition to the inner workings of the hive. If you attended his class before, this will be the next level geared for those looking to start beekeeping to those who have purchased bees this spring. Booth, Lincoln, and the Shot That Changed America – Thursday, 2/15 at 7pm via Zoom.
In commemoration of the 215th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, join historian Greg Caggiano for a look at his life and political career, and how he became one of the most beloved (and controversial) presidents in American history. The program will also delve into the life and career of his assassin, John Wilkes Booth, and cover the chain of events and politics that led to Lincoln’s untimely demise at Ford’s Theater. Botanical Art 101: Floral Wreath Design – Friday, 2/23 at 2pm. DeMott Lane Branch.
Each participant will create their own floral wreath illustration, which can be framed and displayed as a piece of art for your home! Taylor will also explain how your original artwork can be scanned into the computer and used for card making or logo design.
Learn tips and techniques for illustrating different flowers and leaves. You’ll be guided through each step from creating a layout, sketching ideas, and finishing your artwork.
