NJ’s Plastic Bag Ban begins in 2022

Signed into law on November 4, 2020, New Jersey’s Plastic Pollution Reduction Law (P.L. 2020, c117) officially starts in May 4, 2022. On this date all single-use plastic carryout bags, like those found at restaurants, grocery and retail stores are banned. In addition, single-use paper carryout bags are banned in grocery stores over 2500 square feet.
