Emergency Preparedness for Seniors – Tuesday, 9/12 at 11am. DeMott Lane Branch.

It is always a good time to plan and prepare for things that may go wrong. You want to have a plan in place before there is a disaster. With the recent increase in natural disasters and hurricane season starting in September, now is a good time to get information to prepare for possible emergencies in the upcoming months. Please join us for an emergency preparedness presentation that will focus on giving you information on why it is important to prepare, how to prepare, and disasters common to our area. Relax as you paint together using our watercolor paints and paper. No registration required.



The Manhattan Short Film Festival is Returning to FTPL!

Join film lovers from around the world for the 26th annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival. Audiences in over 500 cities spanning 6 continents unite for one week to view and judge the work of the next generation of filmmakers from around the world. Attendees will view the films before voting for the best film and best actor at the conclusion of the program. Please note that some or all of the films may contain adult content and language not suitable for children. Learn more about the festival here.

New Recurring Events



Alzheimer’s New Jersey Family Support Group – Tuesday, 9/12 at 1pm. DeMott Lane Branch.

Held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, Alzheimer’s New Jersey Family Support Groups provide families and caregivers with the emotional support and education they need.

Alzheimer’s New Jersey Family Support Groups are always free and open to the community. Support groups provide families and caregivers with the emotional support and education they need to better understand Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

Our volunteer support group facilitators receive specialized training about Alzheimer’s disease and group facilitation techniques, as well as ongoing support and evaluation.

No registration required, and walk-ins welcome.



Movie Matinees: Two Fridays Every Month, 9/8 and 9/29 at 2pm. DeMott Lane Branch.

9/8: Land (2021)
A local hunter brings a grieving lawyer back from the brink of death after she retreats to the harsh wilderness of the Rockies. Rated PG-13. TRT 1 hour, 29 minutes. No registration required!

9/29: The Covenant (2023)
During the war in Afghanistan, a local interpreter risks his own life to carry an injured sergeant across miles of gruelling terrain. Rated R. TRT 2 hours, 3 minutes. No registration required!



Death Cafe – Thursday, 9/28 at 6pm. DeMott Lane Branch.

Death is universal but how different people and cultures deal with death is unique. A Death Cafe is an an event where people come together in a safe and friendly environment to bring up a taboo subject—death! Have you been wanting to talk about it but thought it was too weird? Or have you had an experience you’d like to share? A Death Café is not necessarily a support group or grief counseling, it is a neutral space to show up together to chat with a death doula and other participants. No registration required!



Conversational English as a Second Language (ESL) – Wednesdays, from 9/13 until 11/15 at 3pm. DeMott Lane Branch.

A free, basic ESL conversation group led by an experienced, NJ-certified ESL teacher. Offered to ESL students who have a basic working knowledge of English and wish to gain more confidence speaking English alongside other students. The group is not appropriate for people who cannot speak basic English. Please click here to register.
